Famous people

Hello everybody.

In this unit we are studying the past simple tense and we are talking about famous people. I have a proposal: let's make a biography of a famous person.

You can choose a sports star, a musician, a film star, an explorer, an artist, etc...

This is an example of a biography of a famous person done by secondary school student's:





What you have to do is to think about your star, look for information about him or her, and write a short biography.

Don't llok for the information in English and try to copy it. I will notice it and you will fail. Find information in your own language and translate it into English. And don't forget to use the dictionary.

Castaway

One of the most famous castaways of cinema's history is Tom Hanks. He's the main character of Cast Away, a great movie from 2000. Tom Hanks obtained the Oscar for that role.

Cast Away had a lot of success. Even Fed-Ex, an important American messenger company, made a funny advertisement joking about that movie. Have a look!





Funny, isn't it?

When you are a castaway, if you want to be saved, you can send a message to the rest of the world. You can, for example, send a message in a bottle. The group The Police, from England, wrote a song called Message in a bottle . Listen to the song and read the lyrics.





Now imagine that you're lost in a desert island and you write a message in a bottle. You can use the letter in your book as a guide.

Holidays in London

Hi again,

today I have a new proposal for you.

Imagine that you are on holiday in London and you want to email a friend to explain what are you doing there.

Try to find information about London write an email to a friend.

You can use the following text as a model:

Hi Josep,

I'm on holiday here in London with my parents and my brother Adam. It's always raining here, so we always have to take the unbrella with us.

At the moment we I'm sitting in an Internet café with my brother and we're eating a sandwich. My mum is shopping next to the café and my father is visiting the Tate Gallery. He really likes art.

Tomorrow we're visiting the London Eye and Westminster Abbey.

I hope you're having a good time.

My Best Friend

Hi, boys, this is the first activity in our blog. You will have to write about your best friend.

First of all, enjoy this video clip called "Young folks" and start thinking about friendship.

Now , please, read the following text about my best friend. You can use it as a model.

"My best friend's name is Joan. He's thirty years old and he lives in my town, Girona.

He is my best friend and I Know him since we were teens. I like him because he's very funny and I always can count on him. We sometimes disagree, he doesn't like basketball, but I love it.

We often meet at the same café and we usually go out together. I also like going to the sports centre with him. We play tennis or squash. We sometimes play golf together.

He's a good friend. He always is by my side."
